Bidding arrivals this very prosaic welcome the canned female voice at the Plymouth train station unintentionally allegorises the town's architectural core – the city centre.

'A Plan for Plymouth' (a site planning blueprint published in 1944) was the response to the town centre's almost complete destruction during World War II. The plan's implementation bestowed some astonishing, at each construction period zeitgeisty, buildings on the city. And their unjustified discredit these nowadays. Picking up on the New Topographics and the exhibition's subtitle Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape 'Plymouth, this is Plymouth' is envisaged as an deliberately austere photographic approach to feel home.
